Frequently Asked Questions |
1.) How long have you been in business?
Blue Ribbon Homes was established in 2003 but its staff are well seasoned in the
area of construction. We have several graduate builders on staff with 20, 30,
and more years of experience delivering quality construction. Our combined
experience is approaching 100 years!
2.) Are you Licensed?
Yes. Blue Ribbon Homes is registered as a business in both the State of Texas
and the County of El Paso. Our Texas license number is TX#13221.
3.) Are you Insured and Bonded?
Yes. Blue Ribbon Homes carries these insurances to protect you, our valued
client. Although we never anticipate a problem on any project, it gives our
clients peace of mind to know that we are bonded and carry insurance coverage to
$1,000,000.
4.) Are you accredited by the Better Business Bureau?
Yes. We maintain an “A” rating with the Better Business Bureau. We believe in
the ideals of the BBB to provide our clients with the best customer service
available. We communicate early and often and address any issues our clients may
have immediately.
5.) Are you a local contractor?
Yes. Blue Ribbon Homes is an El Paso family business. Blue Ribbon Homes was
started in El Paso and its owners are lifetime residences of El Paso. We believe
in making our community better and brighter for our future generations.
6.) How long does the construction process take?
Construction varies depending on the complexity of each project. Typical
projects are as follows:
New Home from Plans to Completion—8 Months
Kitchens from Plans to Completion—8 Weeks
Bathrooms from Plans to Completion—4 Weeks
Additions from Plans to Completion—10 Weeks
Roofs from Start to Completion—3 Days
Again, many things affect the duration of a project including complexity,
Holidays, weather, and client choices. At the time your project starts, you will
be give a time frame for completion based on all these considerations.
7.) Do I need to hire an architect?
No. Blue Ribbon Homes offers a full package of services as part of the project.
We spend time with you upfront to get an idea of what you are looking for and
then provide you with design options. After we have reviewed the options with
you and are in agreement as to the direction your project will take, Blue Ribbon
Homes will draw up the plans for City permitting. There is no reason for you to
call anyone else. We can help you from concept, through design, and then to
completion.
8.) I don’t know anything about construction…Does that matter?
Not at all. It is our pleasure at Blue Ribbon Homes to guide you through the
process from start to finish. We can help you formulate your ideas, give you
options that best suit your needs and budget, develop project plans, and then
see the construction through to completion. We can help you turn your dreams
into reality without you lifting a finger.
9.) Do you finance?
We currently do not finance a complete construction project. We may however
finance specific upgrades or changes to your project on an individual basis. If
you are interested in making a change and don’t have the budget, let us know and
we will see how we can help. Of course we do take all major credit cards for
your convenience.
10.) Do you maintain open lines of communication during a project?
We are the only builder/remodeler in El Paso that uses an online project
management system that includes our clients as a key component to the success of
the project. We have gone to great expense to provide our clients with the
ability to view the “behind-the-scenes” workings of their project. We call it
The Blue Ribbon Experience™. The Blue Ribbon Experience™ is a client focused
approach to contracting. To learn more about this experience see
www.blueribbon-elp.com/experience.
11.) Once you start the job, can I expect you here every day?
I wish it were that simple. You see, each project is broken up into phases. Each
phase has a combination of different sub-contractors and employees. For example,
there are times when we have to wait for our licensed plumber to arrive to
complete plumbing in the walls before we can cover everything up. Also, there
are days when we will have to wait for an inspection from the City to approve
our work before we can move forward. There are still other cases where we cannot
advance any further until an appliance or a back-ordered tile comes in. During
those days there may be no work for us to do. But do not worry. We take your
project seriously and make sure you are aware ahead of time that there will be
no work the following day. We will not leave you wondering whether we will show
up in the morning. Communication is very important to the success of the project
so we will keep you informed along the way.
